God and the Whistling Train Chapter1 page 18

In the passage above, several things are made clear. Firstly there were people that were able to go on the Holy mountain to worship God, but only Moses was allowed into God's presence. Secondly it is made clear that Moses wrote down what God had told him and read them to the people.

Further information comes when we look at the length of the week and the employment of the Sabbath. The Hebrews were unique in having a seven day week and in having the seventh day as a day for rest. We know that this was instigated when Moses brought the ten commandments and introduced them to the people. Prior to that time and in the earlier scriptures there was no practice of the sabbath and rest days at all.

So Moses is equipped to be able to write them and there are significant social changes that are instituted in his time so it is reasonable to assume that he is the writer. From what we read we also know that spent several long periods of time talking to God. So there was ample time for him to gain this information. In fact the only thing he could not of written, is his obituary at the end.

One of the interesting things within the ten commandments God to the children of Israel reminded them of the creation story as in chapter one as a reason for the sabbath rest. This is a substantiation of the story itself.

potentially in that one person. And all those differences enabled man to populate a large number of different weather conditions that we have in our world today and to do it without air conditioning.

If we look at the Gospel of John we see that Jesus was involved in every aspect of the creation. It would be easy just to leave it at that, but it is more. Part of it is that man is equipped for the renewal of the earth and having God dwell with him/her as in the last chapters of revelation. Yet even more is required. People do not come into the kingdom as part of the process, rather they are brought into the Kingdom as a matter of choice. It is like a test.  A  test, which will be set up in the next few chapters, one of believing. Yet in this passage their is a clear picture that some aspects of God are reflected in us. The understanding that is most important in these carriages is that God created us out of love and not loneliness as expressed in Bible passages such as Isaiah 62:5 and Zephaniah 3:17

Before we continue into chapter two, there are a couple of the issues in the early carriages that we need to explore. The first is the question " who wrote the first books of the Bible? The second is the question "Why does the Bible assume that there that there is only one God.

The answer to the first question is Moses. How do we come to that conclusion? Moses was one of the best educated people of his time. He was educated in the court of Pharaoh, so he would be able to read and write. The story of Moses in the old Testament cites him several times as writing down the words of God.

Exodus 24:1-4 (NKJV,) Now He said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar. And Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him.” So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words which the Lord has said we will do.” And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord’

Inherent in the statement is a reproductive process which is diverse and according to the kind. The breeding of a butterfly, a bird and a cat all have an egg of some type in their processes but that is where the similarity ends.

Life has not come from one evolutionary tree with different branches rather there have been an incredible number of trees all representing a kind, Mankind is just a single tree from which different ethnic groups have developed.

The next passage brings the  creation processes to an end.

Genesis 1:27-28 (NKJV) So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Genesis 1:29-31 (NKJV) And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

The creation of man,  a generic  title because we are told that he created them male and female, is very significant. We are told that there was only the pair created which is in contrast to the varieties and the many that comes forth in all the other sequences especially in the “let’ verses.

If we remember the fact that the name for the Spirit of God, it is easy to see that the feminine is not foreign to God. However, there seems to be a difference. In the earlier verses in chapter 2 as the sexual character is understood, but not mentioned here. Both are in the image of God.

The next picture, a task is given to them; to subdue the earth and to have dominion over every thing. A task that was given only to them. It is also worth noting that they were told what to eat.

The next step to ponder is that mankind was in the image of God. I wonder whether that means man would look like Jesus. That is a silly statement. But what is not silly is to see that all the differences that we see in mankind today were

Genesis 1:20-25 (NKJV) Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” So the evening and the morning were the fifth day. Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creatures according to its kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind.

In the passage above we find the  word ‘let’ in each section. For example God says “let the waters abound with abundance of living creatures.”  This sounds like God's really supervising what the waters are doing. But, the creative processes of God are underlined by the next verse." God created the great sea creatures and every living thing that moves. "

Another issue that arises in the with words ‘let’ and the change, is that there appears to be, three set levels of creation. The first being the creation of the key functionality and facilities of the earth. The second, utilising and filling what has been created that comes with the ‘let’s’ and thirdly the creation of mankind.

There is one another phrase that occurs in the descriptions of creation in these last verses. It is the phrase " according to its kind.” This has real implications. It means that while we may believe in micro evolution, macro evolution is not allowed. In other words you can have dogs that change into the many types we have today (micro-evolution), but you don’t have them turning into cats. So monkeys to man is not plausible. Within ‘the kind’ breeding is possible, that is, micro evolution is plausible but macro-evolution is not. Or that which is produced, if it lives, is sterile like a mule.

It is also interesting, while it is almost stated as an afterthought, God mentions he places the stars in place. It is worth noting that God says they are placed in a firmament. There are those that suggest that space is a special kind of nothing. That it can become something, so from that something other universes could form. God calls it a firmament. That is a something, that God created. There is a sense of permanency and certainly no indication of future or past universes. To say that the earth  is part of  a special universe, one of many that exist, but the  one with all the correct triggers to enable life and evolution with the added unlikely scenario of being able to move forward and not backward, merely defers the issue of how the universe came into being. The question remains ‘who created the first universe or all universes ?’ Eventually you need to ask where and who is the designer and initiator? How did order and structure happen?  The next question: is it plausible, or mathematically probable, to develop complexity and the predictability that is in the current universe?

So we have the picture of the sun's beginning. It is interesting to see that the sun’s ending is also plausible. It is estimated that the sun is losing 6 x 1012 grams every second. So the end may be a long way off but it is coming. With things that have  been created, there is also the sense that eventually, the process will be terminal.

Adding the picture in Revelation 21:23 and 22:5 we find the sun is not a constant necessity because at the climax of time God himself is the light. Revelation 21:23-24 (NKJV) The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honour into it. Revelation 22:4-5 (NKJV) They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

It is interesting that the bible looks forward to a world with no sun at all.
